Do you have elderly relatives who always request for help from strangers to assist them to use ATM machines to make withdrawals? If yes, you may have to advise them to desist from it as it has been exposed that criminal elements use this as a means to steal their ATM cards, swap it with a fake one and then proceed to use the original one and its pin to later steal from their bank accounts.
In the early hours of today June 25, an ATM Fraudster who has confessed to using this trick was caught at the First Bank of Nigeria ATM gallery which is along Sapele Road, adjacent to Dumeze Junction, in Benin City, Nigeria.
After assisting an elderly man to make withdrawals with his ATM, he was caught swapping it and later going ahead to use the original ATM card to steal from the victim’s bank account. And when apprehended, other atm cards were found with him, possibly some fake ones he intended to swap for unsuspecting potential victims or the already stolen ones.
The fraudster who has confessed on camera to the crime for which he was suspected is in his late or early 30s. Luck ran out of him when a Bank Staff caught him, and he was videoed by our source while being interrogated by the bank security.
