HRM Oba Ewuare II
From our Bureau Chief, Benin
Wednesday, 27 May, 2026 is another edition of Children’s Day in Nigeria often celebrated with various activities by the Government and even private organisations to honour them.
In Benin, the Capital City of Edo State, the Monarch HRM Oba Ewuare II has extended invitations to children from the age of two to twelve; to attend a party in their honour.
This was made known in a press release by the Monarch’s Chief Press Secretary, Osaigbovo Iguobaro and circulated amongst journalists in Benin, on Monday.
“His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Edo UKu Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin, invites Children between the ages of two to twelve, to children party on Wednesday, 27 May, 2026 on the occasion of ‘Nigeria’s Children’s Day’ celebration.”
The party will be held at the Palace of the Oba, beginning from 1p.m.
According to Wikipedia; established in 1964, Children’s day is dedicated to honoring children, raising awareness for their rights, and promoting their overall well-being and education.
While it is not a federal public holiday (meaning businesses and offices remain open), it is widely observed, especially in the educational sector.
