A source within the University described the inaugural lecture as “unique because it coincides with the retirement of Professor Olatunji, who will formally bow out of the University’s service on Thursday, May 28, 2026, when he would have clocked the mandatory 70 years permitted by the law for academics to remain in active service.”
The enthusiastic source added that “Professor Olatunji will probably be one of the few lucky academics to have their inaugural lectures as parting gifts on the retirement eve. This type rarely happens and this makes this one a very exceptional occasion.”
"Instead of waiting for the APC National Working Comittee to resolve the matter, they hurried to the Palace to present Hon. Ogbeide Ihama to the Oba of Benin, contrary to normal practice, in an attempt to give their flawed primary the backing of our revered Palace.
"As expected, the Oba of Benin, in his wisdom, asked for the certificate of return allegedly issued to Hon. Ogbeide Ihama by the APC NWC.
"None was presented. Instead, they displayed kangaroo results from those bent on imposing him on Edo South Senatorial District."

"The Universities are regulated by their own laws which were made by the government who now are supposed to be the custodian. So we are advising the government to stay clear.
"The 11 year old young man who was swept away by flooding on that fateful day, was the reason I raised this alert that people must be conscious of their environment.
"...Now you have added a little twist which I have found interesting; which is that the drains when they are too smooth, they become endemic to the wellbeing of the people
“There’s nothing satisfactory about this sham of election they did today and it’s very unfortunate because as a loyal party member, I expected something better than this."
But notably, in the southern zone of the State; aftermath of the consensus arrangement if not well managed, will definitely deal a devastating blow to the wellbeing of the Party not only in the 2027 election, but future elections like the governorship.
We further urge all aspirants and their supporters to embrace issue-based engagement and uphold the values of unity, mutual respect, and internal democracy, as the strength of the party remains our collective responsibility.
Party primaries are not won by threats, blackmail or entitlement. They are won by relationships, respect and the ability to genuinely appeal to party leaders and members.
