Edo Online Media Practitioners inaugurates new executives

Online journalists in Edo State under the umbrella of Edo Online Media Practitioners have inaugurated new officials to lead the association for the next three years, with a mandate to reposition digital news management in the State.

The officers were elected at its Congress held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, in Benin.

The newly inaugurated officials are:
Sam Dada Ayokhai — Chairman
Charity Ozigbo-Esere — Vice chairman
Chris Akhabue — Secretary
Kingsley Abavo — Asst Secretary
Stephen Ehichoya Odion — Treasurer
Monday Oise — Financial Secretary
Lucky Isibor — Auditor

A former Editor of the Nigerian Observer, Enahoro Eubaldus who presided over the oath-taking, urged the new leadership to raise standards in digital journalism to match peers nationwide.

In remarks after the oath taking, the Chairman, Sam Dada Ayokhai said the body would operate in line with the NUJ constitution, meet members’ expectations, and seek stakeholders’ cooperation to secure online media’s rightful place in journalism.

Ayokhai paid tribute to pioneer Chairman, Otunba Mike Aladenikan, now the image maker at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, for laying the foundation of the body.

Thereafter, the Chairman inaugurated a standing Screening Committee, chaired by Eubaldus Enahoro, with Isaac Olamikan and Joseph Kanjo as members, to screen new applicants.
