

The National University Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation of all degree programmes of the University of Benin, (UNIBEN).
This has further affirmed the University’s globally acclaimed status and credibility as ‘UNIBEST’ amongst the comity of Nigerian Universities and beyond, it was asserted.
Also, this accomplished edifying fit underscores the leadership sagacity of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Edoba Omoregie SAN and his team of administrators.
The NUC had in October and November of the year 2025 carried out a successful evaluation of the University’s faculties, schools, and centers to have granted the full accreditation.
Consequently, the Commission via a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, dated April 7th, 2026, communicated the information.

Reacting to the development, the highly elated Vice-Chancellor attributed the success story to the dedication and hard work of the University’s management and members of staff.
As he acknowledged, their commitment to academic excellence and promotion of high educational standards and values; were invaluable.
Prof. Omoregie was also said to have commended the University’s Senate, Faculties, Departments, and relevant committees for what he termed: ‘their diligent work’ towards achieving this goal.
He therefore; reassured of his determination to strengthen the University’s undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes as outlined in his 5-point agenda, on assumption of office.
The full accreditation status of the University would span five years (till 2030), it was disclosed in a statement by its spokesperson, Benedicta Ehanire PhD.
