Finally, the much feared, much anticipated, and much desired move in the political chess-board of EDO 2020 Governorship race has been made.
Consequently, Edo is now a PDP State as Governor Godwin Obaseki formally joins the Party in Benin – City. He was received by the leadership of the Party led by its State Chairman, Hon. Tony Aziegbemi amongst a crowd of highly excited supporters.
This brings to an end speculations that he may be contemplating a return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after he and his deputy, Philip Shuaibu announced their resignation from the Party now in the opposition in the State, last Monday.
There had been rumour of him being stranded in transit, and not receiving the expected reception in the PDP, given the interest of other aspirants on its platform.
This is despite the fact that Vanguard News had 48 hours earlier reported that he held a meeting with the National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus; governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Nyesome Wike (Rivers) and other top leaders of the Party, in Abuja.
“I have officially joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria to advance my ambition to seek re-election as Governor of Edo State.
“I, as always, remain committed to engendering good governance and sustainable development of our dear State,” his official statement reads.
