2026 CHILDREN’S DAY: EDSG reaffirms commitment to inclusion, protection of every child – Hon. Eugenia Abdallah

It is yet another ‘Children’s Day’ celebration in Nigeria and the Edo State Government as traditional, has felicitated children across the State and the country to mark the day.
On the special occasion of the day; the State Government described children as the pride of the nation, and the foundation of a greater tomorrow.
On behalf of the State Government, the felicitation message was carried, in a statement by the Commissioner, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Mrs. Eugenia Abdallah circulated amongst journalists in Benin on Wednesday, 27 March, 2026.
Hon. Abdallah said this year’s theme: ‘Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child’, serves as a timely reminder of the collective responsibility to ensure every child, regardless of gender, background, ability or social status, is given equal opportunity to grow, learn and succeed.
The Commissioner noted that inclusion remains vital in building a society where every child feels valued, protected and empowered to achieve their full potential.
“Every child deserves love, quality education, healthcare, protection and the opportunity to dream without limitations.
“We must continue to create an environment where no child is left behind and where the voices, rights and wellbeing of children remain a priority.”
Celebrating the children, Hon. Abdallah commended the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo for his dedication to policies and programmes that promote child welfare, youth empowerment and inclusive development across the State.
She stated that the Governor’s commitment to people-centered governance continues to positively impact children and vulnerable groups through initiatives aimed at improving education, healthcare, social protection and overall wellbeing.
The Commissioner also called on parents, teachers, religious leaders, caregivers and other stakeholders to work together in nurturing children with the right moral values, guidance and support needed to become responsible citizens and future leaders.
She encouraged children to remain focused, confident and hopeful, assuring them that the Edo State Government remains committed to creating opportunities that will help them thrive and excel.
Hon. Abdallah further urged society to continue protecting children from abuse, exploitation, discrimination and all forms of violence, while promoting peace, tolerance and inclusion at all levels.
She wished all children in Edo State a joyful, memorable and fulfilling Children’s Day celebration!
