June 12, 2026 is yet another Democracy Day in Nigeria and as the Government and people celebrate, the Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Eugenia Abdallah has congratulated Nigerians and the people of the State.
Mrs. Abdallah described the day as a significant reminder of the nation’s democratic journey and collective commitment to good governance.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement She signed and circulated amongst journalists in Benin, weekend.
The Commissioner in her Democracy Day message; commended the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his dedication to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting national unity, and implementing policies geared towards the growth and development of the nation.
The Commissioner also lauded the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the progress and welfare of the people of the State.
She noted that the Governor’s developmental initiatives and people-oriented policies continue to inspire confidence and hope for a more prosperous Edo State.
Hon. Abdallah stated that Democracy Day offers an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the sacrifices of the nation’s democratic heroes and recommit themselves to the values of freedom, justice, equity, accountability, and peaceful coexistence.
She further reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to promoting the welfare of women, children, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups across the State.
According to her, sustainable development can only be achieved through inclusive governance that guarantees equal opportunities for all citizens.
The Commissioner called on Edo residents to continue supporting government efforts at all levels, uphold democratic values, respect the rule of law, and work collectively towards building a united and prosperous society.
“Democracy thrives when citizens actively participate in governance, promote peace, and embrace unity. Let us continue to work together for the advancement of our State and nation.”
Hon. Abdallah wished all Nigerians a peaceful and memorable Democracy Day celebration and prayed for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in Edo State and Nigeria.
